This free online Unicode to Preeti converter changes Nepali Unicode text into Preeti font encoding directly in your browser. Nepali text on the web uses Unicode, a universal encoding that works in every browser and on every device, but it doesn't copy cleanly into desktop applications like PageMaker or older versions of Word — you'll get garbled characters instead. To use Nepali in these apps, the text needs to be mapped to ASCII characters that a font like Preeti can render. This tool does exactly that.
Converting Unicode to Preeti is more than a simple character swap. Unicode stores text logically while Preeti stores it visually, the way a typewriter draws it. The i-matra must move to the left of its consonant, the reph rides above a later syllable, and conjuncts combine half forms with full forms. Simple character-by-character converters get all three cases wrong. This converter works syllable by syllable, so किसान comes out correctly rather than as scrambled letters.
